Wednesday 24th April

RADIO RADIO:

Ride the train to the Emerald City remembering not to sit on
the sunny side or you’ll get fried. Breath the dust of millions
gliding in the tube beneath the rhythm of their feet,
slipping out the hole on Oxford Street, cacophony & glorious
noise. Colours collide making music, shapes jump out’ve sounds &
buildings generate words that fall close to the ear, whispering.
I’m attracted to all these things, nothing melancholy here os
ever was. Neither on these streets nor looking out’ve trains
windows watching it all slip by did I ever feel anything but joy
for the polyrhythmic tumbling of images & sounds, smells & tastes
& beautiful poetry gifted to us daily.
I’ve got a bag full of new records to play to you, pages full of
links to share, memories of extraordinary people whose stories
I wrote down as we toured through Europe – but first….
me & the band got a broadcast to do on BBC 6 Music, 12 noon (UK)

See you in the web waves

  1. Karl, have you read “How Music Works” by David Byrne? http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0857862502/ref=asc_df_085786250212955861?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&tag=hydra0b-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=0857862502&hvpos=1o1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=34948777508539291&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=

Your post today reminds me of some of the thoughts and ideas David lays out in his book. Have to say it is by far the best book I have ever read – finished it a couple of weeks ago. Think someone who seems to view music, the arts and the world as you do would absolutely love this book.

Listened to Edgeland on Saturday morning before breakfast. Captivating, well played indeed. Hope you’re happy with it. It’s now gone into circulation of my more ambient music along with bt’s last two albums “If The Stars Are Eternal So Are You and I” & “Morceau Subrosa” among others. Looking forward to second listen which will be in full through headphones with no interruptions. Good luck with the promotion of it.

Looking forward to the next Underworld event…

    Best, Simon.
