Saturday 27th January

INTO THE LIGHT:

It was one thing too many,
Well,
It wasn’t that,
Well,
It was something,

Put everything aside,
Concentrate,
Put an initial on it,
So I know who it belongs to,

Send me a photo of the most relaxing holiday,
It’s amazing,
With a little man standing there saying,
“Hello, how are you?”

Spare me the details,
Start again,
Going clockwise,
Not anti-clockwise,
Go off piste,
That’s the attraction

Thursday 25th January

HE’S GONE THEN?:

In leaving,
Cleared a space,
For ten pretenders,
None amounting to a tenth of him,
The poetry of burned-out cars,
Beautifully rusting,
Bones exposed in fields,
I never saw them burn,
I never saw him either,
Just heard about it,
Never liked him,
Then I did,
I’m not asking for forgiveness,

I’m going back inside,
And I don’t mean banged-up,
Assailed by cheery greetings,
Awkward questions,
Wallpaper emotions,
In the mourning,
The clearing,

Seeing as I know what you like I should know your name,
Ah,
Well,
There you go,
Thinking fast as a slug,
I swerve,
Anger,
Shudder,
Rude intrusion,
Getting too familiar,
I should know it too,
But I can’t remember,
Do you get the message?
What’s that station you’re tuned to?
Silence

Wednesday 24th January

WINDOW:

Forgive me,
I have a poor command of words today,
And spelling,
Sat here in the rain,
Escaping,
From the radio shouting at it’s self,
Another set of mouths,
Another bunch of opinions,
Any answers?
Any questions?
Winter’s tree lies naked in the road,
Making traffic swerve,
Laughing to it’s self,
A giant peanut smiles in the grass,
Soaked in rain,
Sustained by dreams of summer
It’s worth it just to see you happy

Monday 22nd January

AN ABSENCE OF RIDERS:

Going back to the old world,
You had sci-fi,
You had one shot,
One claim,
Weights or leisures,

Give it up,
Cut it out,
See what’s left,
Then ask for more,
Yeah,
Make the bell ring,

Priority,
Yeah,
The water’s crystal clear,
It’s waiting,
Made in Italy,

Hope,
Stop,
Stop,
Stop,
Look around,
Find a seat,
Sit down,
Here comes a big wave

Friday 19th January

A BED FOR THE NIGHT:

The telecoms stole the time of our lives,
It brings us down,
We phone the people whose job it is to get coms fixed,
They say the problem is fixed,
But it’s not,
And there’s more than one problem,
And then,
When they look again,
They find it’s the problem,
Like we told them,
They send people to fix the problem,
Who say the problem is fixed,
But that reveals other problems,
More people are despatched to fix the other problems,
They find things,
That were not fixed by the people who came to fix them before,
Even though we’re told they’ve been fixed,
The phone line crackles,
The hums,
The phone is muffled,
Our internet runs at a speed of 0.2MB,
We consider buying a carrier pigeon

Thursday 18th January

HOLE BETWEEN THE RIVETS:

Tasty buns,
Barking dogs laughing like pirates,
Fast mouth of a man talking like a little boy,
Nearly man,
Talking to a woman he fancies,
But shouldn’t,
But does anyway,
In hope,
In pestilence,
Sounds like a tv presenter,
Sound like a clown wig,
Cheap joker,
Triangle beater,
Illegal use of the tongue,
Innuendos of cheese,
I’ll show you yours if you show me mine,
More tea this time?
