Tuesday 16th January

MUD ON THE NIGHT TRAM:

The phone kept vibrating in my pocket as I tried to make art,
Eyes closed,
Let me sleep,
Cover me with overcoats,
Have I not done enough?
I’m a colouring book,
A fistful of crayons,
And a ticket out of town,
Forgive me if you would,
I’m a bit overwhelmed,
A glass,
Precariously balanced on the edge

KOALA FACE:

We walk huddled through Meaty City,
Warming ourselves on rumours of gangsters,
Mr Twister sucks thick shake up a straw,
What you like?
It’s freezing outside!
Why you wanna make the inside shiver?

Sunday 14th January

KEEPING SCORE:

You sound strong,
I wish my darlin I wish,

What are you lookin at With your money in your mouth?
A tiny Red light winking on the ceiling of the room I wake up in,
All blacked out,

The windows don’t open,
All the air we breath is conditioned,
Hissing at us as we sleep,
Covering our ears for silence,

Red signal,
Can’t move,
Leave it twenty seconds,
I’m severely disrupted,

Im a circle in pointy shoes,
Torn paper pieces strewn beneath the seat of a circle train,
I’m the gap between the platforms,
A leaning stick,
The get-off & the get back on again,
It should be embarrassing,
But it’s not,

When are we leaving?
Hurry up & live!
Keep crossing clear,
Never hit by traffic,

Acupuncture hens & massage,
Can I give you this?

It’s weird being out,
Especially going into a working men’s club,
You can drink,
But I’m not drinking

Friday 12th January

IN THE THICK OF IT:

Last night in London,
At the Lyric Theatre Hammersmith,
We saw,
THINGS I KNOW TO BE TRUE,
It’s the second time,
The first time was last year,
With a different cast,
I raved about it then,
I’m raving about it now,

This time,
Like the first time,
I concealed my tears,
As it hit nerves,
Struck chords,
Rung bells,
About time I wrote that letter home

Thursday 11th January

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE:

It’s not there,
And that’s a nightmare,
Yeah,
Yeah people,
Passed from hand-to-hand,

In our little hole,
Staring into space,
Cross-legged,
Dressed for another place,

Extracted from dreams & diaries,
Ignoring physical company,
For something virtually smiling,

The last time I saw her I cried,
I’ve been so anxious since we broke up,
We soon got back into the swing of it,
We did snowman biscuits

CAT ON A COAT IN A COAT:

Are you secure?
We have to be secure,
Security,

That’s my feeling,
To keep it basic,
Basically,

Do a snapshot,
Do it on post-it notes,
Write the date,

Shove it in the journal,
I like to look at that,
Artwork,

This week & next week,
We’re going to do Winter,
Then we’re going to do the Chinese New Year,

Relax,
We need a fresh start

Tuesday 9th January

WHISTLE A HAPPY TUNE:

Panic,
What’s the rush?
Guilt,
The answer’s in the back of the book,
Don’t look,

Wheels turn on ice,
Shadows of buildings slide,
Dance in unseasonable light,
The dog of a thought,
Pre-occupied,
Toying with the off switch

Monday 8th January

SPECIAL DELIVERY:

People are talking about violence on the radio,
Discussing it intellectually,
Dissecting it dispassionately,
Sharing points of view,
The studio is warm & dry & comfortable,
The people sound at  ease,
Unthreatened,
They don’t sound like they’re in danger,
And the places they’re talking about are far away,
It’s possible that no one,
In those places,
Knows they  are being talked about,
And if they  did,
Would it make them feel safer?

As I listen I make a cup of tea,
Load the car,
And drive to another place,
I assume it’s safe from violence,

As the people talk on the radio,
At the very moment they are talking,
The people they are talking about may be suffering,

The studio is safe,
( I assume),
The place they are discussing is not,
(I imagine),
They are both on the same planet,
(I believe),
Yet at the same time not,
(if you know what I mean),
