Sunday 8th October

NO NO NO:

I need to get away sharp,
I’ve got something on,
My sister’s coming over,

How about the 19th?
I can do the 19th,

I’m topping up,
I’m drinking the bottle,
Keep an eye,

What time do you think we should get together?
7:45?
How about 7:30?
It’s up to you,
It’s fine by me,

Well,
I’m gonna try,
I’ll tell ’em I’m busy,
Slip away,
Got to get away by 6:45,
I’ll sit in the bath,
Laughing dirty

(Mostly what I listen to is Bob Dylan if I’m honest)
(Him & anything on the Detroit Underground label)

Saturday 7th October

NOT THAT THERE WAS ANY OTHER WOMAN ON THE HORIZON:

She doesn’t tick any boxes,
You know what I mean,
It’s one-in-one-out,
She’s on a trip,
She’s basically anything big,

An arty one,
Hardly more healthy,
Cross-talking mouth,
Passionate riches,
Love diamond,
Crashing,
Free luggage,

I saw her yesterday,
She’s one hundred & eighty degrees,
God knows I believe you,
She’d got something on,
Oh,
Massive,

I’m hoping next Friday,
I’m hoping next Friday,
The second time is always better,
It’s a fine balance,
A formula,
The second time,

I’m just saying,
Not Wednesday,
I’m on duty today,
I’d like to be yoghurt,
I’d like to be desert,
Changing gears

Friday 6th October

THE ENTITIES:

Digital bird,
Cost the Earth,
Red sale balloon,

Do you want a drink?
Kiss me,
Coo-ing,

Do you want it normal?
Or do you want it regular?
Marketable,

Are you trying to stand out?
Are you trying to make the sun come out?
At the end of the day,

By-product,
Something should happen,
Write it down,

Change the paper,
End reality,
A touch so deep

Thursday 5th October

HOLDS IT LIKE A CLAW. WHAT?:

The cup,
Sits like a giraffe in Blue,
Waterproof for the season,
Rocking back-&-forth,
Never sits still,

A woman sings,
‘Ain’t no rest for the wicked’

Do you need help,
Not a plastic spoon thrown down?

Drive these puzzles out my head,

Got anything to say,
Sat there pressing buttons?

Big man in a washed-out Nasa t-shirt crossing the road,
Thanks for the noise upon waking,
You bring me up,
My first laugh,
Shining,
Nothing bad,

Beware machines with wheels,
Driven by bleary-eyed drifters,
First thing,
Morning,

I’m not ready to commit to anything,
Don’t call me yet,
You wont like the answer,
You can laugh at that if you want to,
I would,
If I was you

Wednesday 4th October

IN MY CARDBOARD WORLD:

Look,
the light shines off your head,
Sitting in the window with the world behind you,
There’s an answer to everything in your Pink shirt focus,

Gentle confusion walks in,
Blonde like a fog,
Grey like a dream that never came to fruition,

Resignation,
No rest for those not connected to the Kingdom

Tuesday 3rd October

ONE IN ONE OUT:

So in ’78 me & my mate Ross went to see Nils Lofgren play
the Capitol Cinema in Cardiff. Nils was fantastic, summersaulting
through the air off his little tram-pet, rainbow streamers
fluttering like birds of paradise off the head of his Strat as he
flew through the air, but it was the support band who blew us away,
– Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers.

I went straight out the next day & bought Tom’s first album,
playing it on a loop in my little flea infested room in a rat
infested flat on the banks of the Taff. That album & those songs
got me through some of the darkest times I endured, living with
the rats & fleas.

Is his music a guilty pleasure for an Essex techno boy?
Naaah! – nothing guilty about pleasure so deep.

Thanks Tom

Monday 2nd October

A GINGERBREAD HOUSE:

A girl who never sleeps,
A heavy scented boy,
A slim-fit shirt,
Smart dark suit,
Pointy Black shoes,
Talk through a mouth too small for the words,
Too fast to transmit any joy,
“Is that skimmed?”

Sunday 1st October

IS IT THE NUMBER THIRTEEN OR THE LETTER B WITH A CRACK?:

What I see every day on my way to you,
Following a bad walking back-pack,
Past rabbit-in-the-headlights-woman,
Holding up a sign,
Asking,
“What is the Kingdom?”

Saturday 30th September

CAN YOU IMAGINE SERVING COFFEE ONE DAY & STEALING CARS THE NEXT?:

How’s the family?
Do you want chocolate on top?

I feel a lot like normal,
Drowning in phone calls,

If it’s going to be a flop,
It’s going to be a flop,
It’s ok,

It’s kind’ve mean,
But what can I do?

Deal with it!

The third week of October,
A Wednesday,
We’re gonna organise everything,

I can take four people,
There’s only six of us,

Don’t go sky-diving!
You know what I mean…

(today I’m listening to: ‘Come Play The Trees’ by Snapped Ankles)

Friday 29th September

SKINNY-LEGGED BLACK JEAN:

Puffa jacket,
Hair,
Cut like it was the 1940’s,
Like we used to laugh at,
In the 1980’s,
It all comes back around though,
Dunnit?

Slow clicks,
The dreamer,
Enters,
In a trance,
Busy in the morning,
Then quiet for the rest of the day,

A zombie for the lady,
A particular for the gent,
Press HOME for UNLOCK,
Wow!
That’s so exciting!
