  1. I adore Bowie and awoke early this morning to find the news that he would have a new album out in March. 2013 is looking to be a wonderful year already for music. I love this diary ever so much and just discovered it not long ago…am always happy to reading your musings each day now.

  2. Hey Karl,

I really like this David Bowie video “Jazzin for Blue Jean”. David Bowie is the writer, and he also plays two characters in the film: a rock-star, and an average guy. The average guy meets this girl who he wants to impress, and takes her on a date to the rock-star’s concert, saying he will introduce her to the rock-star. He says, “I know that man. I write his lyrics.” Anyway, it turns out that she actually knows the rock-star, and leaves the show with the rock-star instead of the average guy. Since David Bowie is playing both characters, it’s really funny.

Did you ever think of yourself as being in any funny role-playing scenes like this? You could have Karl Hyde the rock-star, and Karl Hyde the average guy, and maybe they know each other and the average guy writes lyrics for the rock-star? ..or they end up in a chance meeting one day? I think this is hilarious, and I love this as a story theme–where’s there’s some famous or important character who pretends to be an average normal person, or where there’s two storylines or series that run along concurrently and intertwine every once in a while, and then you find out that one of the characters from each series is actually the same person, or two of the characters from the two series are actually sharing the same experience/life. I have really hot fantasies all day long about this kind of stuff, and I cast my friends as some of the different characters–it’s awesome.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the videos and the story idea. Love, Cari
