Monday 17th August

HOME FROM HOME FROM:

I miss the gently undulating terrain of Worcestershire.
The green, the yellow, the distant hills inviting us.
They call to the restless wanderer in me & this unquenchable
desire to drift, to see what happens – chance encounters
on the road to unplanned. It was tough to leave today, choked up
behind the wheel. Don’t get me wrong, Essex will be forever in my
heart. It’s just that I realised after years away that the Midlands
is in my blood. I’m a slow learner.

  1. Our hearts and minds choose where to be, but our roots always anchor us. Returning from whence we came is sometimes bitter sweet. Leaving family is never easy. You know the saying you have to leave in order to return, that I think is the light at the end of the tunnel.

  2. Our hearts and minds may choose to be somewhere else but our roots anchor us. Leaving family is never easy, but you know the saying you have to leave before you can return. I think that is the light at the end of the tunnel. Never forgetting where we from is important it defines who we are.

  3. On one side of the river lived the gypsies in houses made of mud, in best case painted in fluorescent colours, on the other side we lived in houses that today is called minimalistic but what I call barracks, in best case with green or yellow glass balconies, built when communism flourished at its best. Above our heads we had the biggest steel factory in the country that got my mother wash the windows once a week and got me dream away. No green grass of home here, not even a straw, only solide concrete surrounded by blacktop.
I guess it’s in my blood, just like you nowadays šŸ™‚
