Sunday 30th July

THE FULL CORNISH:

Two tin flamingos watch me from the undergrowth,
A grumpy bloke who tries so hard,
A bee disappears into a flower,
An old author orders the perfect egg (metaphorically speaking)

Friday 28th July

THE BALLAD OF TWO BOLLARDS:

Do you want mayonnaise with that?
Do you want ketchup with that?

Reality tried to look like a Tyrannosaurus,
Goin’ mad in the pick ‘n’ mix,

Two tin flamingoes,
Watching,
Hidden in the hedge

Thursday 27th July

ARRIVING AT A DECISION:

He doesn’t know,
He doesn’t understand,
He’s in denial,
This is what it is,

Wave,
Table,
Enable,
Disable,

He’s that kind’ve bloke,
It’s the fundamental,
Optimism,
What?

I need to talk,
I need to call,
I need to feel something

Wednesday 26th July

COALFACE:

I’m back here again,
An empty page,
Standing at the edge of the pavement,
Checking pockets for change,
Condiments,
Costs,

Unfamiliar faces,
stray smiles,
Glances between calls,
A stick-man in black,
Striding up the middle of the road,
No cars,

Lucky Seven,
Broken thirteen,
Ladder-man walks into the light of a new day,
Waits between words,
Pages unturned,
Already eight hours underway,

A doorway,
Sheltering,
Looks up at the sky,
Threatening rain,
A Black dog on a Purple leash,
No need to book,
Just call him

Tuesday 25th July

THE FURNITURE IS ACTING WEIRD AGAIN:

A tiny bell keeps ringing in an upstairs room,
A door creeks,
Blown by the wind,
A tap turns on in the kitchen,
The refrigerator keeps walking

Monday 24th July

NINETEEN SIXTY NINE:

She qualified in Law,
Couldn’t find a job,
Waits tables in Summer,
Fourteen hour shifts,
The customers love her,
Laughter,
Walks like a weight lifter,
Backs of her hands facing forward,
Knuckles down,
Crafty drags between orders,
A long way from home

Sunday 23rd July

LEAVING PARADISE FOR THE CENTRE OF THE UNIVERSE:

Princess sunblock,
Obscurity obsession,
All the motorcycles are Black,
Three are Silver,
Gorged on Summer,

Turn around when you reach the ocean,
All the parking places are taken

Saturday 22nd July

RETURN TO ME WITH SWEET THINGS:

Slam, Slam,
Eagle arm,
Sharp hair & shades,
Moisturised since the age of 23,

Looks good for his age,
Lay a-top a wall,
Hands across his chest,
Letting it all slip away,

Don’t cry,
The winds of change are coming,
Lying on their bellies,
Tanning their backs on brightly coloured towels,

Today I met a stick,
Stuck into the sand,
Waiting to become a tree,
A big one
