Saturday 9th May

IN THE LAND OF SMILING ‘X’ PEOPLE:

Mad & beautiful, you came out’ve nowhere, talking loud
to make sure you were heard. Red wrapped around you, fast
in-&-out, look around. Hidden eyes approaching, come for
the bitter stuff, knuckles white, so serious, cheer up!
Folding laugh (two times grey) walks in, concealed fists,
machine growling, steam, white stick whipping.
All the coming & the going, talking low in corners so not
to be heard. Flat-foot slapping, perfume of a man, a suit
surprise, pink, a random dog, all come for the comfort of
a bitter aromatic roast.

  1. Coffee to kick start the day. Awake into the wee hours, student life. “This is my mum Karen”, “my mum’s called Karen must be an age thing”. My daughters inhale loudly they know I’m still 17, trapped inside something older. I laugh and look at her smiling and reply I love you a little less today.

The morning silence is broken by the blue tit sitting on the open window singing. That never happens at home. Good day Sunshine, have a good one.
