Friday 30th March

GLASS BUN:

If you break it you fix it,
Push it ’till it snaps,
The box,
The boundary,
The bubble
The line,

Scratch me behind the ears,
Talking in high-pitched voices,
Kiss Kiss Kiss,
Good morning,
I’ve been walking,
Have you been drinking?

Why are you so happy?
Can I have some?
I got dyslexia,
Standing in a perfumed wind,
Through storms of relentless joy

Thursday 29th March

CAST:

Step lightly between avenues of laughter,
Imbibing healing waters,
Away-day with the crazies,

I just heard the first words uttered by frustrated mouths,
Ganging up on other halves,
With greater love for animal,

Please don’t give me chocolate,
When I’m broke for love,
I’m neither bitter nor sweet enough

(Listening to Slagr – ‘DIRR’)

Wednesday 28th March

ART IN THE STICKS:

Disruptor,
Do you know the experience of going round in circles?
Morning,
Do you know peace?
Disobedience,
Don’t you look smart!
Wow!
Excuse me,

My faithful dog,
My companion,
My phone caller in the night,
What door do you leave unlocked?

Who is this?
Who am I?
How can I talk about feelings when none of them have names?

(Listening to LAURENCE PIKE – ‘Distant Early Warning’)

Tuesday 27th March

FALLEN:

Thank you,
That was great,
Goodbye,
Let me off the some chocolate sparkles,
The little Golden eggs,
I’m sweet enough,
So the joke goes,

I got a message,
A fake talent,
Is this the colour of my skin?
Me,
I know nothin’,
All I know is this,
I haven’t worn anything fake for two months

Sunday 25th March

FINGERS & THUMBS:

Last night I got a message,
From the balcony of groove,
Above a beach,
Where two men build walls of rocks from the sea,
They dance to the groove as they work,
Smiling,
Waving to the drummer,
Who beats a wooden box,
Nodding back,
Transmitting messages of hands across oceans,

At that precise place,
And that precise time,
The three of them have everything,
Material,
Spiritual,
Emotional,
Balance & harmony,
Box,
Rocks,
Hands & feet,
The surf,
The sand,
The balcony,
The sea,
The sky,
And the earth rotating underneath them,

At that precise time,
I walk into an empty house,
From meditating at the wheel,
Driving a head silent,
At 2:00am,
Clean,
Like the kitchen,
The dishes,
The curry cleared away,
A space prepared for something good to happen

Saturday 24th March

CROWDED BOWL:

The dj on the radio is talking about space ships,
As I towel myself dry,
Fresh out the shower from the deepest sleep,
I just switched channels,
Because the dj on the other side was putting on this fake voice,
Making me feel like I’m not included in the joke,

The dj with the spaceship plays a new track by an old friend,
The last time I saw him it went weird,
I called him the next day,
He said he would explain,
But never did,
It was an elephant,
Now there’s a herd,

It’s normal,
In the world of communications,
Most people I know don’t stay in touch,
Don’t exchange,
Don’t interact,
Don’t even check how you’re doing,
A era of limitless communication possibilities,
Increasing isolation,

The dj says ‘wow!’ about something they just played,
I think ‘what the hell’s so fantastic?’
By the way,
If you’re wondering,
That new track by the elephant breeder,
It’s a great come back,
At least,
That’s what the dj says,
Talking over the end of it,
Like wiping muddy boots on the mat before walking in,
Somebody sent a message that they just bought it,
I hope that makes the elephants happy,
I hope it pays their rent,
I’m sat here thinking about what happened the last time we met,
Checking my boots are clean

Friday 23rd March

SNAP:

That’s a dog,
That’s a greeting,
That’s fearless in the face of everything,
That’s a sock-less,
Snake skin,
Sneaker,
A Marvel comic world,
About as far as you could get from the Horsefair,
Kidderminster,
In the 1960’s

Tea & toast from a greasy spoon,
A juke box,
Biker jackets,
Steamed up windows,
Cars parked round the back on rubble,
Where the wash houses of old tenements used to stand,
Escaping through American comic books,
Vintage 60’s,
Mint condition,

Mom gave them all to the kids next door,
When I was away at college,
Practising my Black-outs,
Gave away anything of any monetary value I’d,
Everything collectable,
It was in the mentality,
In the genes,

People didn’t think like me where I came from,
Back then,
Well,
If they did,
They didn’t stick around for long,
In the 1960’s,
Kidderminster,
About as far as you could get from a Marvel comic book world,
Made me,
Built me,
Drew me,
Programmed me,
Coloured me in,
I ran away,
Now I’m in love

Wednesday 21st March

TREE OF LIGHT:

Two White horses face one another,
Stand close,
Noses almost touching,
Stand statue still,
In Grey overcoats,
In the Sun,
In a bitter wind,
In a dirty field,

With lips barely moving,
The one says to the other,
“Don’t move, we’re being watched”
