Thursday 28th May

Something weird in the generic chain cafe, Ska & Howlin Wolf
underscored my porridge, speaking to me clear as a bell, visions
of dusty guitars captured on old analogue recorders, vibrating
the airwaves in the room, generating visions, feeding me
direction, connecting me directly to the roots, exciting my
molecules like new born.

  1. Good day Sunshine. Landed on your feet with this cafe. I was brought up with Ska and the blues amongst other music. After my mums funeral I sat in her front room and played her Ska through her stereo. Superb, I felt her wrap around me through the music. That familiar warm feeling flowing through me. I have a lot of love for that music. Longshot and 5446 amongst my favourites. There’s been many versions of Smokestack but the Howling Wolf version is probably my favourite. The old analogue recordings are warm and rich with a subtleness you just can’t get with digital.
